Dominated at the moment by toasted coconut and vanilla scents, the 2015 Gigondas Le Parpaillon could
use a few years to shed some oak. It's full-bodied and creamy-ripe in texture, with a long finish but
perhaps a bit generic-oaky. Given the concentrated underlying fruit, I'm optimistic it will be more typical
of Gigondas by 2020 or so.
The certified organic 2015 Gigondas Les Dessous des Dentelles is a fine effort, boasting effusive aromas
of cracked pepper, cherries and stone fruit. It's full-bodied and creamy in texture, delivering some
chocolaty notes and silky tannins on the long finish. It's ready to drink now and should continue to drink
well for 5-7 years.
